Radical Hospitality is a community-driven organization rooted in the belief that everyone deserves dignity, safety, and the opportunity to thrive—regardless of their housing status.

Founded in Cleveland, we offer low-barrier, compassionate support to those experiencing unsheltered homelessness—especially individuals who have been historically underserved by traditional shelters due to mental health challenges, physical disabilities, past trauma, or identity-related discrimination.

Our Mission

To offer safe, personalized alternatives to traditional shelters, addressing the unique needs of Cleveland’s unhoused community and fostering environments where dignity and self-determination are paramount.

Our Vision

We envision a community where every individual experiencing homelessness is met with compassion, respect, and the resources to realize their full potential.

Why This Work Matters

Every night in Cleveland, an estimated 750 are unsheltered.

The crisis has worsened due to:

  • A sharp decrease in affordable housing

  • The expiration of pandemic-era relief programs

  • The lifting of eviction moratoriums

  • Limited capacity or accessibility of traditional shelters

And for many, the barriers go even deeper. LGBTQ+ individuals, those with complex mental or physical health conditions, and people with traumatic shelter experiences often find conventional options unsafe or unwelcoming.

According to the California Policy Lab, 84% of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness have more than one persistent health condition. Without safe shelter and supportive services, they face disproportionately high risks of violence, illness, and early death.

Our Approach

We believe a different model is possible—one built on empathy, flexibility, and human connection.

Low-Barrier Access

We welcome individuals who may be turned away elsewhere. Our spaces are designed to meet people where they are—with no judgment and as few barriers as possible.

Seasonal Overnight Shelter

Operating from mid-November to mid-April, we provide:

  • A hot meal

  • Access to showers and hygiene supplies

  • A safe, warm place to sleep

  • Respectful, trauma-informed care

This lifesaving service protects our most vulnerable neighbors during Cleveland’s harshest months.

Future Initiatives

We’re actively developing Cleveland’s first Tiny Home Village, a long-term housing solution built on the principles of dignity, privacy, and community. This initiative will offer residents more than just shelter—it will offer stability, autonomy, and healing.

Our Impact

The Radical Hospitality Center is more than a shelter—it's a model of care that prioritizes empathy, dignity, and individualized support. We work to bridge critical gaps and create pathways to:

  • Housing navigation

  • Mental and physical healthcare

  • Job training and employment support

  • Community re-integration

We're not just meeting an urgent need—we're helping shape a sustainable, human-centered response to homelessness in Cleveland.

Community at the Core

At the core of our mission is community engagement.
We know that no one organization can solve homelessness alone. That’s why we work in partnership with city agencies, healthcare providers, faith groups, and most importantly—those with lived experience of homelessness.

Through compassion, tailored support, and collaborative action, we’re not just reacting to a crisis—we’re nurturing a more inclusive, supportive, and stable environment for all Clevelanders.
